Another beautiful week has gone by and things have been as busy as ever with the Core Keeper community! Which isn't to say there aren't genuinely spooky areas and scary moments. There are ominous, off-screen sounds when you get close to one of Core Keeper's bosses. Breaking through a wall and suddenly seeing you're at the edge of a massive chasm is alarming, and building a narrow bridge across it doesn't feel comfy at all (even though you can't actually fall in).

For instance, I was a Gardener, which gave me a copper hoe and a watering can right off the bat. If I had known better, I probably would’ve preferred a wearable light source to complement my hand-held torch, but it is what it is. It all worked out.

So I'm surprised how comfortable it is being perpetually underground in Core Keeper. Part of it is the charming art and animation, along with the dynamic lighting effects. The game begins in the gloom of the Core chamber, but place a few torches and clear out some dirt walls with a pickaxe, and soon the room is bathed in warm light.

My character’s level-ups were too few and far between, the enemies and biomes became overly familiar, and the trips back out to the edge of the world took too long even with a minecart.

Scholar's Staff is dropped by Caveling Scholars in this sub-biome dungeon is a hard hitting ranged weapon that can be very useful against Omoroth.

Standard type character is strongly recommended over hardcore, for all players. It is also recommended that new players start in a normal mode world. Hard mode currently doubles the health and damage of all enemies and bosses, for little to pelo pay-off.

The patch introduces several balancing improvements. Bosses now drop at least one piece of equipment or a weapon.
